This VW in-house manifesto film pays tribute to the iconic California campervan.

VW initially contacted us with an idea for an unexciting in-house presentation of the California’s sales figures. We couldn’t do it. A design icon of this order deserves more.

So we extended the VW “Unlock” campaign into a short documentary about the legendary campervan. With all the bells and whistles, epic driving shots, aerial shots, historical footage and the beautiful Ardennes landscape as a backdrop. The VW California has always been a symbol of freedom. We wanted to capture that feeling in our storyline.

My part in this project was with the initial idea, scenario writing, location scouting and directing of the film. DOP was Frank Dewaele.

For legal reasons, the movie cannot be published here, but these are some of the screenshots.
